Survivors, Ol’Aces trounce foes in Little League

The Martha’s Store Survivors and the Happy Market Ol’Aces scored similar lopsided wins over separate opponents as action continued in the Majors division of the Saipan Little League on Sunday at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Field.

The Survivors scored a 19-1 demolition of the Wells Fargo As Matuis Twins, while Ol’Aces needed a late-inning scoring surge to pull off an 11-3 decision against the Pacific Islands Club-Deloitte&Touche Dragons of San Antonio.

Sisior Romolor led the Survivors’ lopsided win, going 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI while Vicente Cabrera pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief retiring the last three batters he faced in the top of the fourth.

Cabrera struck out M.J. Sakisat and Roberty Tudela, while forcing Ton Camacho to ground out to a 6-3 putout play to end the game.

The Survivors also used an eight-run third inning scoring to break the game wide open.

In the second game, Jeremy Lizama pitched in no relief to lead Ol’Aces to an 11-3 triumph against the hard-fighting Dragons of San Antonio.

Lizama gave up two earned runs on six hits while striking out 10 batters and walking two more.

In the other games, Team McDonald’s bounced back from consecutive losses to score an 8-3 victory against DPS Dare JPO of Rep. Diego T. Benavente, while the Kautz Glass Pirates clipped Hustlers II, 15-5.

On Saturday, Thomas Reyes went 2-for-2 with one run and a triple to lead the Bank of Saipan Red Sox to a 10-4 win over the Kagman Little Lions of Reps. Ed Salas and Rosmond Santos.

The UMDA Hustlers I leaned on Raymund Saralu’s pitching and the consistent hitting of its sluggers to coast to a 24-1 thrashing of the Tan Holdings Athletics.

Saralu pitched four one-hit innings with the A’s lone run an earned with six strikeouts and four walks.

Khobby Kaipat and Jesus Mafnas led the Hustlers’ hit parade going 4-for-4 and 3-for-3 at the plate. Kaipat scored four times and had two doubles while Mafnas had three runs, a double and three RBIs.

A.J. Lizama and Mike Gabianza combined for 4-for-6 in batting with six runs and two doubles, while Joseph Borja went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Jesus Celes only went 1-for-3 but managed to score two runs and had three RBIs.
