MVA attends Shanghai World Travel Fair
The Marianas Visitors Authority recently returned from the Shanghai World Travel Fair. Two members of the MVA team along with four Carolinian Cultural dancers attended the show to promote the CNMI as a destination. The three-day event was attended by thousands of Chinese and foreigners living in the Shanghai area.
Booths representing destinations around the world competed to grab the attention of the visitors. The Marianas booth, manned by Tinian Dynasty Holidays, Century Tours staff, and other Saipan companies, were on hand to provide information for prospective visitors to our islands.
The Marianas was given the honor of being the first to perform for the opening ceremony. The dancers did an outstanding performance showcasing the islands’ culture and local tradition which was enjoyed by all. The performers also did coconut weaving and banana painting on the third day which was also enjoyed by everyone, most especially the children.
The MVA delegates, consisting of Joey Charfauros and Leng Bai, had the opportunity to meet with visiting journalists and provided them with information about Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. In addition, they had the chance to meet with Xu Bao An, director of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission Office, to establish a relationship between MVA and work together to promote the CNMI in Shanghai.
