The Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association reported that they sold 27 secondhand cars last month.

The 27 used cars sold in March pushes year-to-date secondhand car sales to 110.

Joeten Motors led all auto dealerships in used car sales in March 2008 with 10 units sold. That figure represents 37 percent of the market and gives the Oleai company 37 used cars sold for the year (33.6 percent of all purchases).

Triple J Motors was one used car shy of Joeten Motors’ performance with nine secondhand cars disposed of last month.

That represents 33.3 percent of the market in March 2008 and gives the Garapan company 38 for the year, tops for CADA (34.5 for the market so far this year).

New car sales leader Microl Corp. finds itself in unfamiliar territory, lagging behind Joeten Motors and Triple J Motors in the used car segment with eight units sold in March 2008.

That is a mere 29.6 percent share of the market and gives the Oleai company 35 secondhand units sold for the year (31.8 percent of the market).

Joeten Motors is the distributor for Nissan, Ford, Honda, and Kia. Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet. Triple J Motors peddles Mazda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki.

CADA reported last Wednesday that new car sales totaled only 52 in March 2008 after 68 units were sold in the same period last year.

Despite the 23-percent decline in car sales last month, CADA is not alarmed, pointing out that compared to last year’s January-March figures, CADA’s new vehicle sales actually are up by eight units during the first three months of 2008.

The March report from CADA showed that automobile sales in the first quarter of the current year have a total of 190 units, compared to 182 units sold during the same period in 2007.
