GEC Pawnshop created an early four-way tie for the lead in the Inaugural FMI Inter-Color Basketball League after a 111-76 demolition of MIGS on Sunday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Pawnbrokers now join opening day winners Advance X-Terminators and Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Ol’Aces on top of the standings with similar 1-0 marks.

Mark Wallace led the GEC assault scoring 22 of his team-high 35 points in the first half where the Pawnbrokers pulled away. He had 13 of his team’s 30 first quarter points as GEC zoomed to a 30-9 lead and was never threatened after that.

Amor Casabuena added 15 points, while Saipan Southern High School standout Manuel Ajoste and Larry Palero chipped in 13 markers each with Jake Celes contributing 12 more.

Raymond Cadagat poured in a game-high 42 points to pace MIGS scoring, while Johnny Badilles added 13 markers. No other player scored in double figures.

Other teams seeing action in the open division of the league are Pacific Telecoms, Inc. and Blue House.

Aside from the Ada gym, games will also be played at the Construction and Material Supply basketball court in Gualo Rai or at the CIC basketball court in Garapan.

The league will have three play dates every week-Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

League coordinator Boy Garcia said no games are scheduled in the 40-and-over division yet as he is still finalizing details of the masters league.
