After a long layoff because of the Holy Week, the Friends of the Mariana Islands Inter-Color Basketball League resumes its inaugural season tonight at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

League coordinator Boy Garcia said the first game in tonight’s doubleheader begins at 6:15pm when Tasi Tours go up against Price Costco, while the second game—set at around 7:30pm—will have Ol’Aces taking on SMF-Seabridge.

The FMI cage league continues on Saturday with another twinbill. The first game will have GEC Pawnshop taking on MIGS at 6:15pm to be followed by the 7:30pm match between Shirley’s Coffee Shop and Advance X-Terminators.

The Inaugural Mariana Islands Inter-Color Basketball League kicked off last March 14 at the Ada Gym with Advance X-Terminators and Shirley’s Coffee Shop winning the opening games.

Led by veteran big man Edsel Mendoza’s 20 points, Advance X-Terminators upset a highly touted Tasi Tours Giants team, 98-81, in the first game.

Shirley’s Coffee Shop, meanwhile, drew strength from the deadly triumvirate of Elmer Esdrelon, John Santos, and Ryan Sanciangco to beat SMF-Seabridge, 122-112, in the nightcap.

Aside from the five mentioned teams, Garcia said also seeing action in the open division of the competition are Pacific Telecoms, Inc. and Blue House.

The league will also be played at the Construction and Material Supply basketball court in Gualo Rai or at the CIC basketball court in Garapan on top of the Oleai Sports Complex venue. The league will have three play dates every week—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Garcia said no games are schedules in the 40-and-over division yet as he is still finalizing details of the masters league.
