What is going on, asks Tina

Did you read the page 8 Variety article on March 25? Should be front-page headlines in the minds of many. The confirmation process has been violated on a number of nominees to government posts. In the article, Tina Sablan is quoted as saying that a PUC nominee, Kimberly King-Hinds, was confirmed by the Senate before all of her documents were submitted and reviewed. Tina goes on to say that some lawmakers are reluctant to screen the credentials and backgrounds of nominees.

WHAT? Due diligence? Holy wackers! Is this real?

If this is really going on in any kind of a routine (or not) manner, it needs an immediate and full AG investigation. What’s the deal here? Anybody know? Maybe everyone but me? Unreal to the nth.

Nor do I have any axe to grind with Ms. King-Hinds. She just happened to be the one this time. Another thought that many of us have often pondered concerns the qualifications for various government positions such as this one. And for Board of Regents at NMC? And others. Might it be time to again review qualifications in light of the dire need to get on with fixing CUC and NMC, et al? Seems to me part of the qualification would be previous experience, training and education as it directly applies to the position at hand. Time is of the essence, so let’s get on with it. Rules and regulations need to be followed. And all of this needs to be carried out with complete integrity and transparency. Otherwise we can expect financial decline and social chaos. Guaranteed.
