Officers of the Department of Public Safety’s Thief Apprehension Select Coalition arrested yesterday three men and two male juveniles who were allegedly behind the burglary at Roshi’s Market in Kagman, during which several items were stolen.

At a press briefing, DPS Commissioner Claudio K. Norita identified the suspects as Frank Quitaneq, 18; Julian Sablan, 18; Roman Cabrera Jr., 41; and two 16-year-old males.

Norita said the five defendants were arrested when TASC members executed a search and arrest warrant at two houses in San Antonio and As Perdido at 10am.

The commissioner said all suspects will be charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.

A bail hearing for the suspects is expected to be held today, Friday, in the Superior Court.

Sablan, Cabrera, and one of the juveniles were also allegedly arrested before for burglary and theft cases.

Norita said the burglary and theft incident that took place at Roshi’s Market last Feb. 28 was reported to the police at 6:53am that day.

Stolen items included an undetermined amount of money, assorted clothing, packs of cigarettes, and other grocery items.

Investigators said the total estimated value of the stolen items is $5,711.

Detective George David said a cashier discovered the break-in on Feb. 28 when she opened the store and found candies, clothing, and coins scattered on the floor.

The suspects apparently managed to get inside the store by pulling out the backroom window.

David said that they relied on basic police investigation work and techniques to gather information on the streets about who may have been involved in the burglary.

He said they were able to recover some of the items such as clothing and shoes. Some of the stolen items have already been disposed of or consumed, the detective said.
