Lagare graduates from yeoman school
Saipan-born Joseph Bryan E. Lagare has finished his yeoman training and is now undergoing submarine schooling in Groton, Connecticut.
Lagare, a graduate of Kagman High School, graduated from Yeoman “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi, on Feb. 22. 2008, after about three months of training.
“The next day, I left Meridian and arrived in Providence, Connecticut where the duty driver picked us up from the airport and drove us to Groton, Connecticut for my submarine school,” said Lagare in an e-mail provided by his parents to the Saipan Tribune.
Lagare went through boot camp at the Illinois Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes and yeoman training at the Naval Technical Training Center in Meridian, Mississippi. He is currently undergoing Basic Enlisted Submarine training at the Naval Submarine School in Groton.
He is with the U.S. Navy as an Enlisted 03.
After graduation from Kagman High School, Lagare had a short stint with the Commonwealth Development Authority as an administrative assistant, and also tried his hand last year as technician assistant at PC Outlet.
His father, Miguel B. Lagare, says his son plans to pursue an electronic engineering or IT degree, with the possibility of going on to law school.
“He’ll be coming home after graduation from submarine school for vacation sometime next month before deployment,” said Miguel B. Lagare.
Lagare’s mother is Bernardina E. Lagare, of Lasam, Cagayan Valley in the Philippines, while his father is from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, also in the Philippines.
