Tinian schools present Education Day awards

Demonstrating unity of spirit and cause, as well as the close-knit relationships among the people of Tinian, the Education Day activities on Tinian were conducted jointly by the Tinian Elementary School faculty and staff and the Tinian Junior Senior High School faculty and staff. (Contributed Photo) Tinian Junior/Senior High School presented its Education Day awards to the school’s outstanding employees yesterday.

The Outstanding Employees of the Year who were recognized are as follows: Mariana Omengkar (1st grade teacher), Teacher of the Year; Nida Dosalua (Special Education), Teacher Aide of the Year; Julita Diaz, Support Staff of the Year (Administration); Rodel Manlulu, Support Staff of the Year (Maintenance); and Victor Linan, Support Staff of the Year (Pupil Transportation). The Education Day activities were conducted jointly by the TES faculty and staff and the TJSHS faculty and staff.

While the adults enjoyed presentations by both the Head Start students and the TJSHS Performing Arts students, the children enjoyed watching dance performances by the TES Cowboys and Cowgirls, as well as the TJSHS staff and faculty “Senior Stallion Battalion.”

Brothers, sisters, and cousins from Head Start to graduating seniors shared lunch at the one table, while Tinian Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz provided freshly barbecued lunch for both faculties and staff at another.

Dela Cruz, officers of the Tinian PTSA, TJSHS principal Julian Hofschneider, and TES principal Dionne Santos presented awards and commendations to members of both the TES and TJSHS faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication to educating the island’s youth. (PR)
