The Runnin’ Rebels outlasted Andhok’s, 64-56, during the only game played in the Garapan Basketball League IT&E Cup last Friday at the Garapan Basketball court.

The Rebels remain undefeated in three games, while Andhok’s was served its fourth loss in as many matches. Only the Andhok’s-Rebels tiff was finished last weekend, as the second match between FGC (2-2) and Satbahi-Blue Haus (1-2) was rained-out with FGC ahead, 66-56, five minutes left in regulation.

Both the Rebels and Andhok’s had sluggish starts with the former having the slight edge after the opening ten minutes, 12-5. Rodney Sacramento paced the Rebels with four points in the first quarter.

Then Andhok’s Tim Wesley came alive with 15 points in the second quarter to pull his team to within a point at halftime, 29-30.

The Rebels buried a pair of three-pointers to maintain the edge in the third quarter, although it was still a one-possession game, 48-45, heading into crunch time.

The Rebels bench stepped up in the clutch as seven different players chipped in to help secure the victory. After playing catch up in the first three quarters, Andhok’s could not complete the come-from-behind win in the fourth, as it was held to 11 points in the final period.

Sacramento and Trevor Ogumoro teamed up for 25 points for the Rebels, while Wesley led all scorers with 20. Notably, Wesley fouled out in the fourth quarter, hindering his team’s chances in mounting a recovery.

Runnin’ Rebels 64
 – Ogumoro 13, Sacramento 12, Aughenbaugh 9, Manglona 9, Fitial 8, Hossain 7, DL Guerrero 2, Hambros 2, Lisua 2.

Scoring by quarters: 12-5, 30-29, 48-45, 64-56.
