The list includes the 5th Annual Traders Insurance Badminton Team Tournament at the TSL Sports Complex, the first leg of Tsunami Saipan Swim Circuit Series, the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup 2011, Week 1 of the 3rd Annual Tan Holdings Tennis Classic, and the 16th Annual Club at the Hyatt Golf Classic. Other on-going competitions on Saipan also continued last week: Shirley’s caging, GBL IT&E Cup, FA Cup, and the MISO volleyball and basketball.

Five clubs started the contest in the Traders team event with Golden Racquets and Shirley’s Badminton Club prevailing in Week 1 against TAGA and the Berks Blazers, respectively.

In the swim circuit, Tsunami Saipan’s Ryuto Yanai and Lukas Kang reset CNMI age group records in the boys U8 division, while teammates Kensuke Kimura and Shigeki Tenorio represented the Commonwealth in the FINA World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.

In golf, Last Minute’s Joe Suares, Will Maui, Eun Taeck Jung, and Jaeyon Ju bested over 20 teams to rule the Hyatt Golf Classic.

In tennis, Week 1 of the Tan Holdings Classic drew 68 entries from Guam and Saipan.

In the Shirley’s caging, teams are almost done with their regular season assignments after last week’s games. Mobil leads the field with a 7-1 record.

Still in basketball, IT&E Konflikt went 3-0 after twin wins last week to keep the top spot in the GBL.

In the FA Cup, Wild Bill’s and Inter Godfather’s are also undefeated in Group A and B, respectively.

In the MISO boys volleyball, Kagman High School pulled off an upset over Saipan International School for its fourth straight championships, while Marianas High School capped its dominance in the girls basketball with a title win over Saipan Southern High School.
