House Vice Speaker Felicidad Ogumoro (Cov-Saipan) and House minority leader Joseph Deleon Guerrero (R-Saipan) are in Kosrae in the Federated States of Micronesia for the 52nd Association of Pacific Island Legislatures’ board of directors meeting.

The Nov. 15 to 17 APIL meeting is focused on economic development programs, health and environmental protection and conservation, youth programs, and other regional issues.

Ogumoro said she will be off-island until Nov. 21, while Deleon Guerrero, until Nov. 19. The two will be missing today’s House session.

Senate President Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) said he’s not aware if any senator went to the APIL meet.

During the last APIL General Assembly in Palau in June this year, the CNMI sent about a dozen lawmakers and Legislative Bureau staffers.

The CNMI will host the 31st APIL General Assembly on Saipan next year. APIL members are American Samoa, Guam, the CNMI, FSM, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, and Hawaii.
