Valentine’s Day is still a month away but the United Filipino Organization is already prepping up for the launch of its first ever event featuring various activities to celebrate the occasion.

Pusong Pinoy will be a whole-day event slated for Feb. 12 at the Civic Center grounds in Susupe.

UFO president Bong Malasarte said yesterday that the event, to be coordinated by a committee led by vice president for external affairs Fernando “Bok” Enano, will be on their list of annual events that the Filipino community can look forward to and enjoy.

“Our organization always strives to build positive relationships and so Pusong Pinoy is another opportunity for Filipinos and the rest of the community to come together and enjoy exciting activities with family and friends,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Pusong Pinoy will also serve as a venue for UFO members to demonstrate their camaraderie and teamwork while organizing the event.

UFO secretary Annamae Adaza said in a separate interview that Minda Castro, Olive Yana, and she will be actively involved in coordinating the program for the event.

Adaza promised the community another fun-filled event as there will be competitions, games, live entertainment, and food booths.

Highlighting the event will be Panlasang Pinoy, a food competition that would showcase the Filipinos’ culinary talents, and Ms. Pusong Pinoy, a beauty pageant for young females age 16 to 25 years old.

Adaza is inviting amateur and professional cooks and interested females to join the two contests. Performing groups as well as food and non-food vendors who want to sell their products at the event are also encouraged to sign up and be part of the program.

“We hope you will all join us for this new and exciting event to celebrate Valentine’s Day,” said Adaza.

To sign up or for more information, call Bok Enano at 287-9756, Annamae Adaza at 483-5237 or Olive Yana at 285-7893.
