Sotomayor sets Guam, NMI visit

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is scheduled to visit Guam and the CNMI on January 25-30, 2012 to attend the annual conferences hosted by the District Court of Guam and the District Court of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Guam’s 2012 District Conference is cosponsored by the Guam Bar Association and the Northern Mariana Islands’ 2012 District Conference is cosponsored by the CNMI Bar Association. In addition, the Judiciary of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands Judiciary are assisting the federal judiciaries in hosting the conferences.

Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood of the District Court of Guam and Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands are honored to host the Justice on her first visit to our islands.

Justice Sotomayor was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2009 and is the court’s 111th justice, its first Hispanic justice and its third female justice.
