A naked woman was found dead along the shoreline of Laulau Beach Thursday afternoon. Police classified the case as a homicide.

It was the second time in five years that the body of a naked woman was found at a beach on Saipan.

Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas said yesterday that the victim, who has not been identified yet, has a distinguishing mark of a red rose tattoo on the left chest.

Blas said the victim was about 20 to mid-30 years old, 5’0” to 5’5” tall, slim, between 110 to 120 lbs, light skinned and with reddish-brown dyed hair above shoulder length.

The DPS spokesman said that clothes found at the scene were a multi-colored striped blouse and a black jean-type pants with a brand name “MHAL.”

Blas said preliminary investigation showed that DPS received a call about a dead person at Laulau Beach Thursday at 2:07pm.

He said it was learned that two local fishermen were fishing along the shoreline of the beach when they came upon the body at the southernmost portion of the beach side.

The fishermen then called the police.

Blas said the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau was not releasing any other details as of yesterday as investigation was ongoing and that investigators were still trying to locate relatives, friends or the employer of the victim for identification.

Blas said an autopsy will be conducted over the weekend to determine the victim’s cause of death.

It was the second homicide case in five years in which the victim was a naked woman found at the beach side.

On Aug. 9, 2001, Ai Fang Han was spotted dead on the shoreline at Obyan Beach. Ai was naked when she was found at the southernmost tip of the beach.

Thursday’s victim is the fourth homicide victim in the CNMI so far this year.

In February, a Chinese man fatally stabbed two Korean women and a Korean man before being fatally shot by a responding police officer at a residence in San Antonio. The officer was also injured.
