NMA All Comers Meet on Nov. 29
In its efforts to prep the CNMI team heading to the 2006 Oceania Under 18/Open Track and Field Championships next month, Northern Marianas Athletics will hold another All Comers Meet on Nov. 29.
The track and field events for the meet is all set and interested athletes can register for their respective events at 4pm at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility. The first event is scheduled to get underway at 5pm.
The meet will include running events such as the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1,500m races. Throwing events will also be held and includes the shot put, javelin throw, and discus throw, while jumpers will compete in the long and high jumps.
All events will feature divisions for men and women.
Another crowd pleaser will be held as the event will conclude with the 4X100m relays and medley relays.
The event serves as a tune up for the CNMI delegation that will compete in the Oceania Championships, which will be held in Apia, Samoa.
“This is a good meet for our athletes that are going so they can get some competition before they leave, and it’s also good for other athletes because they get to work a sweat, support the CNMI delegation, and also see where they stand in case that they are looking to compete in future track and field events,” said NMA coaches’ director Elias Rangamar in an earlier interview.
Members of the team include sprinters Jacque Wonenberg, Tyrone Omar, and Yvonne Bennet; middle distance runners Nate Mateo and Champ Untalan; throwers Syl Rangamar and Melvin Tagabuel; and hurdler Dexter Dillay.
The team will be coached by Rangamar and Ronald Olopai.
