House burglarized, set on fire
An unidentified person burglarized a house in Tanapag and set it on fire yesterday afternoon.
No one was hurt as the occupant, a female Chinese employee of Top Fashion, was at work when the incident happened, according to police.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said that DPS received at 12:22pm a report about a fire that broke out inside a room adjacent to the Triple 8 Restaurant.
Some people in the area put out the fire.
When the occupant of the house arrived, the fire had already been extinguished.
Arson investigators found out that the suspect also burglarized the room and stole a TV set, video player, a bag, assorted jewelry, passport, and other personal items.
Blas said the incident was placed under further investigation.
In other news, an unattended lighted candle burned a wood and tin residential house located next to the Oleai Elementary School in the evening of Nov. 1.
No one was reported hurt.
Blas said the house belonged to 57-year-old Francisco Buniag Jr. It had no electricity and used a generator and candles for lighting.
The house was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Fire personnel later extinguished the blaze and secured the area.
A fire investigator determined that an unattended lighted candle triggered the blaze.
Buniag and family members were not around when the fire broke out, police said.
