Rocball second round set to unfold today
The second round of the ongoing World Organized Rocball Community League kicks off today at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
According to league coordinator Jim Feger, all teams have already competed in the first round, which ended on Monday with Watch & Learn annihilating the Bwibwiis for a juice out victory.
The Watch & Learn players, comprised of teachers of the school, got off to a good start as they grabbed the first set, 15-7, then followed up by crushing their opponents, 16-1, in the second set, which was highlighted by a goal by veteran volleyball player Tyce Mister.
The Bwibwiis also hurt themselves in the second set as the team had a couple mishaps on first serves, not to mention a xunk against them that resulted in four points subtracted from their corner.
Watch & Learn continued to cruise in the third set and scored an easy 15-8 victory.
Determined to force o-kon, the Bwibwiis put up a valiant effort in the final set of regulation and broke out to a 9-2 lead, with Darrel Moteisou working for six points during the run.
To their disappointment, though, Watch & Learn was able to recover and busted out a 13-0 run for the 15-9 clincher.
Mister finished as the game’s heavy hitter and led Watch & Learn with 21 points after recording three aces, a xunk, five kees, and a goal.
Moteisou led the Bwibwiis with 20 points after connecting for seven aces and three kees.
Having the honors of kicking off the second round today are Black Magic and defending champion Mwaliyas. Black Magic is gunning for its first win, while Mwaliyas is coming off a forfeit victory over the Caropinos. The match begins at 12:40pm.
The Dublan Chiefs (1-0) and Ballers (0-1) battle on Monday, Nov. 13, while the Bwibwiis and 670’s Finest face off next Wednesday, with the winner earning win No. 1 after both lost in the first round.
Da Lani Kynez and Kich Fairo, both sporting 1-0 records, will then battle on Nov. 20, while Watch & Learn and Caropinos close the second round on Nov. 22.
