Superior Court associate judge Perry B. Inos imposed a 90-day sentence on a man who beat up his girlfriend after a drinking session in Koblerville.
Inos on Monday sentenced Julio Litulumar Emangmai to three years in prison, all suspended except for 90 days, for assault with a dangerous weapon, with credit for time served. This mean the 25-year-old Emangmai will no longer serve further jail time.
Emangmai was placed on probation for three years, ordered to pay a $250 fine, $100 court assessment fee, plus a probation fee, required to perform 200 hours of community service, and complete anger management counseling.
The Office of the Attorney General had charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. He pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon; the remaining charges were dismissed.
Emangmai beat up his girlfriend on Aug. 2, 2011, on Saipan.
Police officers responded to Alaguan Street in Koblerville at 5:23pm after police received a disturbance call. When two officers arrived at the house, they saw the victim on the ground.
The victim told police that Emangmai repeatedly slapped her and then hit her back several times with a broomstick.
