NMA All Comers Meet, Cross Country finale set
Northern Marianas Athletics announced yesterday that it will hold a couple of All Comers meets this month, and has also stamped a date for the finale of the 2006 All Schools Cross Country Series.
The first All Comers Meet will be held on Nov. 11 at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility.
Registration is set for 3pm, with the event scheduled to begin at 4pm.
Another All Comers Meet will be held on Nov. 29, also at the Oleai Sports Complex. Registration for the event is at 4pm, and the action is expected to get underway at 5pm.
According to NMA, the All Comers events will serve as tune ups for the CNMI delegation that will be competing in the 2006 Oceania Under 18/Open Championships in Samoa next month.
The delegation comprises of eight athletes and two coaches, and the list of athletes is still being finalized.
Meanwhile, the All Schools Cross Country Championships will close the Cross Country Series on Dec. 2 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.
According to NMA president Kurt Barnes and board member Pete Untalan, the event will not only feature divisions for students, but also an open division for others interested in competing or working out a sweat.
Athletes competing in the junior high and high school divisions will be challenging a 6-kilometer course, while girls will compete in a 5-kilometer run.
Competitors in the younger divisions will run a mile.
Those interested in competing in the open division will face a 6-km challenge.
