Four CPA officials will attend DOI conference
Two board members of the Commonwealth Ports Authority and two management officials will attend the Department of the Interior-sponsored business conference this month in Hawaii.
CPA executive director Clyde Norita said yesterday that he and Saipan seaport manager Lee Cabrera would join Tinian board member Serafin Dela Cruz in the trip.
Dela Cruz is the board chair for airport operations committee.
Board secretary Barbara Yamada, who is already in Hawaii on a personal visit, will join them at the conference, which will be held at the Waikiki Marriott in Honolulu on Nov. 13 and 14. Norita said the CPA team would meet with shipping and tourism investors during the event.
Their airfare, with the exception of Yamada, will be shouldered by CPA. All of them will get the standard government travel per diem for the trip, said Norita.
The government earlier this year issued an emergency regulation setting the standard per diem of $85 to $250 per person, depending on destinations. Before, travel per diem was determined by individual government agencies.
“We’re using the standard government per diem,” said Norita.
The CNMI delegation will be headed by acting Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez. Other members include Finance Secretary Eloy Inos, Commerce Secretary James Santos, press secretary Charles P. Reyes, and representatives from the Marianas Visitors Authority, and Commonwealth Development Authority.
Some senators may also join the trip. Members from the business sector are also set to attend the conference.
