SML Fall: No baseball tonight
The bright lights of Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field will not burn and there will be no cracks from wooden bats at the Oleai Sports Complex tonight as the Fall edition of the Saipan Major League takes a night off.
According to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi, the SML Fall will forego playing ball this evening as players, coaches, and fans give the grass a chance to grow and observe All-Saints Day.
The break in schedule falls in line with the start of the second round of the regular season slate, as teams compete for the pennant through three rounds of action through mid-December before battling in the playoffs.
All of the runs, hits, and diving catches resume very soon as the SML Fall returns to the ballpark this Friday, Nov. 3, when the defending champion Pirates look to even their record at two apiece, while the talented North Stars squad tries to do the same.
The lights get fired up along with the first pitch at 6:30pm and as always, attendance is free and the public is invited and encouraged to watch the next generation’s best players make names for themselves against the CNMI’s prime athletes.
