The federal court unsealed yesterday the case against a 34-year-old man who was charged along with two other co-defendants for trafficking crystal methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

In the second superseding indictment, Ismike Magofna was included as the third defendant. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession, with intent to distribute and distribution of a controlled substance.

The U.S. government indicted the other defendants—Julita A. Sablan and Greg Twelbang Magofna—with the same charges.

It was Ismike Magofna’s first court appearance in this case yesterday.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson set the preliminary hearing for Ismike Magofna today.

Munson issued the arrest warrant for Ismike Magofna last Wednesday and imposed no bail.

According to the second superseding indictment, between April and September 2006, the defendants conspired to possess with intent to distribute “ice.”

On April 6, 2006, Sablan and Greg Magofna allegedly possessed with intent to distribute .065 grams of “ice.”

On Sept. 13, 2006, Sablan and Ismike Magofna allegedly possessed with intent to distribute “ice.”

In August 2006, the U.S. government filed a superseding indictment against Sablan and Greg Magofna over the same incident.
