Over 60 contestants have already auditioned for Saipan Grand Hotel’s Saipan Singing Superstar this year.

Eventologist Oscar Yema said the turnout for the auditions to the biggest singing competition for adults and kids in the CNMI has been “very overwhelming.” The auditions, which started three weeks ago, have already gathered 60 talented individuals from all over the island.

“Based on the list, the people who have auditioned are very diverse,” he said, adding that more individuals have shown interest in this competition. He said those who auditioned and passed also include local residents and some nonresidents in the CNMI.

Yema said that, due to insistent public demand, the audition for “Triple S” is extended until tonight. He said talented singers are still welcome to audition.

There are at least 42 adults, age 13 and above, who have passed the auditions, while at least 16 kids, age 12 and below, are now included in the competition that will start on Nov. 8.

For the adult category, there will be four sets or batches of contestants to compete during the preliminary rounds, while for the kids all 16 will compete for the title starting Nov. 10 to continue on Nov. 17 and 24.

For the adult category, the contest dates are on Nov. 8, 15, 22, and 29.

“The competition is something the local community should look forward to, because it will be a contest to be executed like what’s being done in a TV show,” Yema said, adding that when the supporters and fans watch each competition night, they would feel like they are in a TV studio or watching a TV show.

One good thing about the competition, added Yema, is that it is not going to be only a karaoke singing contest because the contestants could bring their own instruments as their accompaniment when they sing during competition nights.

Yema is encouraging all talented individuals to come and audition tonight. He said the competition would give away great prizes such as $700 and a round-trip ticket to the Philippines for the Adult Category, while $300 and a Christmas Party Package is at stake in the Kids category.
