Open letter to CUC executive director

Dear Mr. Abe Malae: On Wednesday, April 4, our water system got busted. I called twice a day, my tenant once a day.

Some CUC staff came around to check on Thursday and Friday. The real work of fixing happened on Saturday but the pipe was still leaking at various points. The crew stayed late but the work was not thoroughly done. We thought the crew was coming the following day. We waited on Monday, no one came. I called Mr. Tim Scheidt and said the water is running and is being wasted. I also mentioned that the pipe is badly laid and that it frequently gets busted. He said he knows. Until today Saturday, April 21, no serious work is being done on the pipe and water system.

I am also very concerned of the water leakage being very close to the meters (My home and my tenant’s). This might trigger the meters to operate, causing us to pay for the wasted water-water we did not use.

I suggest that the leak be fixed in order to save water running out from the pipe. The pipe laid at Nagao PI should be done properly as well. That the pipe should be laid either at one side of the road and deep enough to stand the impact of the cars/trucks on the road.

Furthermore, the leaks cause the water to run into the road, causing more damage to the already ravaged road, causing serious difficulties in navigating it. There are five places where the leaks are in a span of about 20 meters. There is too much waste. CUC is so fast in billing, sometimes bills customers on non-existing service but is very, very slow in responding to repairs.

The leaking water multiplies our hardship. We need help soonest. Thank you.

Fe Y. Calixterio
