KHS JROTC staff briefers rated No. 1 in the nation
The JROTC Program Director for the United States of America, Col. Bagley, visited all CNMI JROTC programs on Rota, Tinian, and Saipan on Oct. 22, 2011, the first visit ever by a ranking official from the U.S. Cadet Command.
Every school gave some kind of staff briefing or commander presentation for each school. All schools did an outstanding job in presenting their briefings and were given a cadet command Coin of Excellence.
Kagman High School was recognized for having the best briefers. “KHS JROTC went above and beyond my expectations and was the best staff briefing I have ever seen,” Bagley said.
Bagley has seen many briefings and oversees over 1,600 JROTC programs in high schools.
The five Kagman High briefers were battalion commander cadet Lt. Col. Manglona Keisha; S-1 Admin officer cadet 2nd Lt. Lizama Nicole; S-2 Security and Intelligence officer cadet 1st Lt. Jebehn Dorothy; S-3 Operation Training officer cadet 1st Lt. Harris Markeda; S-5 Logistic and Supply officer cadet Capt. Narvaez Anjannete; and S-5 Public Affairs officer cadet 2nd Lt. Indalecio Mona.
The briefing consisted of their background information, duties and responsibilities, and how JROTC helped them in their life and to be a better citizen. The presentation was a 45-minute slide show that required pie charts, bar graphs, and statistic charts that provided the status of the school enrollment and service enlistments.
The Army instructors responsible for training the cadets at Kagman High are MSG James Burke and SFC Anthony Lukeala.
Bagley also said that during his four-day stay in the CNMI, people were extremely friendly and the hospitality was excellent and that he would like to return very soon.
After his visit, he then went to Guam to check the three JROTC high school programs there and returned to Headquarters Cadet Command in Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he will brief his commander, Maj. Gen. McDonald, a two-star general, about his visit to the Pacific.
