After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the third, the super-sized small fries of McDonald’s served up eight runs in the bottom of the inning to get the ball rolling on a 10-5 win over the Red Sox on Sunday in continuation of the Saipan Little League Baseball Association at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Peter Tenorio came out of a mini-pitching retirement to throw a complete-game one-hitter in which he fanned 16 from the rubber and went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles and a double from the batter’s box.

His younger brother Patrick wasn’t too shabby either, posting a base hit, a pair of three-baggers, and a run batted in for the Golden Arches, while teammate Ray Tenorio went 3-for-3 with a string of singles and an RBI.

The win pulled McDonald’s (9-7) to within two games of the fourth place Tanapag Braves (11-7) and dropped the Sox to 5-13.

BRAVES 18, PIRATES 5

The Tanapag Braves continued to roll on Sunday when they sank the Pirates, 18-5, to earn their 11th win of the season in a one-sided shellacking at Tan Ge.

Jotham Camacho and Sandrew Rani split duty on the hill to hold the Pirates to a five hits through five innings and fanned eight batters before the umpires invoked the 10-run mercy rule at the close of the fifth.

Camacho allowed the runs and surrendered all of the hits before Rani took the hill in the fourth and blanked the Pirates in the final pair of innings. Rani also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of singles and an RBI but he let heavy hitter Oliver Iguel lead the team with a 3-for-4 outing that yielded a double, two triples, and three runs batted in.

HUSTLERS 12, TWINS 6

The Hustlers pulled into a second place tie with Kagman 1-2-3 on Sunday when they toppled the As Matuis Twins, 12-6, to improve their record to 11-4 on the season.

McGarette Dueñas went four innings, fanned a half dozen, and allowed half of the runs off of five hits and Daylinne Joseph cleaned up the final two innings with three runs off of three hits.

The powerful pair held the Twins at the plate and Joseph produced from the box with a single and a double to finish 2-for-3 on the day. Catcher Marvin Ngeskebei caught for both pitchers and drove in a pair of runs off of two hits, while centerfielder Jeremy Lizama went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles, a double, and a run batted in.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

PIRATES 5, OL’ACES 1

The first place Pepsi Pirates picked up a run in five straight innings en route to a 5-1 victory over the Ol’Aces on Sunday to extend their lead over the Junior League Jets to two games at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

Pitcher Josh Jones allowed one run off of four hits and fanned eight through seven innings to earn the win while his free swinging teammates provided plenty of punch at the plate.

The outfielders were outstanding as centerfielder D.J. George smacked three singles and a triple in four trips to the batter’s box and stole a base, right fielder John Moses went 2-for-2 with a pair of base knocks and drove in a run, and left fielder Roman Seman went 2-for-4 with a pair of hits and a plate crossing for the Pirates.

BIG LEAGUE

ANGELS 11, BRAVES 1

Derrick Babauta two-hit the Tanapag Braves to lead the Northern Angels to their fifth win of the season in a one-sided affair in which his teammates took advantage of miscues and poor coverage to stay a game ahead of the second place Pirates.

The short story of the game is that Babauta was good and the Braves were bad, but the extent of the badness was isolated to one miserable inning in which they allowed nine runs off of just five hits, walked six, committed two errors, and allowed eight stolen bases.

Justin Mizutani went 3-for-4 for the Angels with a pair of double and three runs batted in and Dan Concepcion went 3-for-3 with a pair of ribbies, three stolen bags, and two runs scored.
