Eucon honors 2006 graduates

Eucon International School recognized its 23 graduates this year in a ceremony Thursday evening held at the Korean Presbyterian Church in Chinatown.

The event was the school’s 8th annual graduation ceremony.

This year’s top graduates are Zachary Jan Cabanes, who received the President’s Award for the 12th grade, and Raphael Zapanta for the 6th grade.

The President’s Award is the highest honor given to a graduate. It is bestowed on the student who exemplifies excellence in both academic and Christian character.

Dean’s award is given to the student with the highest academic achievement, while a principal’s award is given to the student who has shown great improvement in school performance.

Other 12th grade top honors are Zhang Steven for Dean’s award, and Hanna Hyesha Deleon for Principal’s Award.

From the 8th grade, Wang Bing received the Dean’s Award.

From the 6th grade, Zapanta bagged the highest award, while Ryan Cassey Iglesias received the Principal’s and Joon Lee got the Dean’s award.

Aside from Cabanes, Deleon, and Zhang, Eucon graduated 12th grade students Fu Yu Yun, Im Jee Jin, Liu Juefan, Nam John, and Christian Wei, Jr.

Wei Jr. received a special recognition of being the best in Bible history and possessing a remarkable ability to memorize Bible verses and narrate stories.

Graduates from the 8th grade are Daniel Gomez, Jin Zhen Zhu, and Wang Bing.

6th grade graduates are Ryan Casey Iglesias, Jemma Lara, Joon Lee, Ana Louisse Salangsang, Hanul Woo, and Raphael Zapanta.

Eucon also graduated six K-5 students Te’lnah Diaz, Kristen Nicole Loste, Lu Ying Ying, Kazumi Otake, Wataru Tajima, and Theresa Zheng.

Loste received the President’s Award while Lu received the Principal’s Award.

Otake was the Dean’s awardee.

The school, headed by its president Christian Wei, PhD., also rendered awards to the top students from K4 and 1st to 6th grades as well as from 9th to 11th grades.

During the recognition, teachers and parents were called on stage to present the medals to the students.

A special prayer of thanks and blessings was said for the graduates at the end of the ceremony.

Eucon International School has earned a reputation of having an effective English as a Second Language program, and producing outstanding students in math, science and language arts. (Liberty Dones)
