46 seniors graduate from Mt. Carmel

Mt. Carmel School graduated 46 seniors in its 54th commencement exercises Saturday at the Mt. Carmel Cathedral in Susupe.

Senior Caisha Vanna B. Sablan is this year’s valedictorian after posting the highest grade point average. She also received the Most Outstanding Female Graduate Award from the governor’s special assistant for women’s affairs.

In her speech, Sablan thanked her family, teachers, classmates and friends who had supported her. She urged her fellow graduates to persevere until they reach their goals.

The director of Mt. Carmel’s recent staging of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Sablan also pledged to come back and help the school theater group.

Jolyn Patricia B. Duenas and Christopher C. Ching shared the salutatorian honors.

Other students who graduated with honors are Hye Sun Kim, Lyrard Mychal B. Tenorio, Steven M. Johnson, Bona Lim, Jeffrey Q. Deleon Guerrero, and Elizabeth Emma C. Itibus.

Itibus also received the Bishop Tomas A. Camacho Christian Service Award while Johnson was granted the President’s Award for Meritorious Achievement.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, whose son Joseph Patrick was among the graduating class, personally presented the Governor’s Leadership Award to John Ronald P. Del Rosario.

Other awardees are Amanda Sablan, who got the Alumni Distinguished Graduate Award, and Andre A. Tenorio, who received the Joeten Scholarship Award. Rep. Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero delivered the keynote address.
