Just Put It In lost out on a golden opportunity to climb into third place in the 7th Annual Spring Co-ed Four’s Beach Volleyball League on Tuesday night, but their overconfidence got the better of them as they lost to a short-handed Lite U Up squad at the Pacific Islands Club.

Moments before the game, Dan Westphal and Leo Wania were scrambling for teammates as Linda Anastacio, Dale “Dread Pirate” Roberts, Melissa Halaby, Jeff Rezai, and Pete Hauk were nowhere to be found.

Just before they threw in the towel they enlisted the aid of a pair of lady tourists who helped them pull off one heck of a win against a talented team by taking two of three sets.

Things looked bad early on for Lite U Up (5-1) as they surrendered the first set, 11-2, but Westphal, Wania, and the Nihonjin duo turned the tables in the second to even the score with an 11-4 win.

Just Put It In (4-3) refused to fold in the clincher and jumped out to an early lead when things began to unfold. After creating some distance in the score, a certain unnamed Just Put It In player lost focus and began talking trash.

That may have cost his team the game, as the Lites played inspired ball to force extra points before taking the clincher, 13-11. Despite losing a set and giving up a slew in the finale, Lite U Up continues to boast the league’s lowest points against total with 77.

They look to preserve their mark of excellence tonight when they face Last Call at 7:30pm, while Just Put It In has a week to refocus before their match with the Ying Yang Clan on Tuesday, June 6, at 7:30pm.

Sand In My Pants 3, Victoria’s Secret 0

Sandra Arnold didn’t even have to show up for her team to prosper as Sand In My Pants swept the court with Victoria’s Secret in straight sets, 11-6, 11-5, and 11-8.

Nick Gross, Victoria Riordan, Teresa Miller, and a PIC guest from Korea played strong, but they were no match for the Sandies as Kevin Carey put the butter on Bruce Berline’s roll with perfect sets all night long.

The set man and the sweat man came up big and were a major reason why Sand In My Pants surged ahead to lead the league with 201 points scored, while Riordan and the Secrets continued to play well in a losing effort.

Jon Cramer’s sandy bunch returns to the San Antonio courts next Tuesday, June 6, while the search for Victoria’s Secret continues against the MHS Dolphin Leapers tonight at 6:30pm.

Dirk Digglers 2, MHS Dolphin Splashers 1

The talented bunch of bumpers, setters, and spikers known as the Dirk Digglers put together their first winning streak since the opening two weeks of the season as they followed up last week’s victory over Victoria’s Secret with a “W” over the MHS Dolphin Splashers.

The up-and-down Digglers bagged the first set in a one-sided 11-3 whooping and dropped the second in a frenzy, 12-10, before bringing the noise and the funk in the finale to break the tie, 11-4.

The win gave the Digglers their fourth win of the season and a piece of fifth place with Just Put It In, but the aquatic students slipped further down the drain by picking up their sixth loss of the season against one victory.

The Digglers return to action tonight when they bang with the Ying Yang Clan at 8:30pm, while the Splashers look to shake Chafed Grundle three hours earlier at 5:30pm.

Ying Yang Clan 3, MHS Dolphin Divers 0

The Ying Yang Clan and “Chair Man” Max Kuan remained undefeated through six games on Tuesday by drowning the MHS Dolphin Divers in straight sets in a combined 33-10 soaking.

Kuan’s Clan continue to cruise through the competition by crushing the Oleai classmates 11-3 in the opener and scorching the students in the second, 11-1, before giving up a half dozen in the third, 11-6.

At 6-0, the Clan holds a narrow lead over the second place Sand In My Pants (6-1) and the third place Lite U Up (5-1), but they are working well together and look to hang on the rest of the way.

The Clan returns tonight to face the Dirk Digglers at 8:30pm while the Divers look for air next Tuesday, June 6, against Chafed Grundle at 5:30pm.
