NMIFA to honor kickers
After a season of success at the American Memorial Park and three weeks of fun at the Garapan Elementary School pitch, the Northern Mariana Islands Football (Soccer) Association is looking to reward its kickers.
The future Beckhams and Ronaldinhos of the CNMI will receive their druthers tomorrow, May 27, at the Fiesta Resort and Spa, where league officials host the entire association poolside at 3:30pm.
According to NMIFA general secretary Peter Coleman, the event will be as fun as informative as it will be fun as the association officials plan to unveil a preview of upcoming events as well as inform the members of next year’s registration dates.
While the players and coachers will be recognized with trophies and certificates during the ceremonies, everyone in attendance will be invited to partake in the post-festivity festivities at the Taste of the Marianas, and NMIFA will set up a station to purchase “Taste Tokens” on site.
The good news continued for the leggers as NMIFA announced the addition of Marcus Alonso and Vince Stravino, to the board of directors.
Alonso is a longtime volunteer and supporter of the fledgling organization, while Stravino is both a player and a soccer enthusiast. The addition brings NMIFA’s total board membership up to the maximum level of nine members, and affords the association the opportunity to better accomplish its mission in the Marianas.
