GUAM—Players from the University of Korea are the undisputed kings of the hard court after they carved out a convincing 116-92 win against the Philippine Amateur Basketball League All-Stars in the winner-take-all championship game of the 2006 International Friendship Basketball Tournament Thursday night at the University of Guam Fieldhouse. The Koreans played almost flawless basketball from start to finish, draining a total of 23 3-pointers, 10 of which was rifled in by tournament most valuable player Young Hyun Lee, who finished with 30 points.

Just seconds into the start of the game, Lee drained his first 3-pointer and his teammates never looked back, leading by as much as 36 points, 69-33, in the first half.

Jae Rok Shim and Seong Kwon Song added 14 apiece for the University of Korea.

University of Korea then sent in their shock troopers to start the second half and the PABL All-Stars began playing catch-up ball led by Saipan-born Dennis Camacho’s 21 points.

In the consolation game, the Guam National Men’s Basketball Team beat Big Navy for the second time in a row, 79-75, to bag third place. (Eduardo C. Siguenza)
