Island Pride Marathon building interest offshore
With the ongoing coordination for the 1st Island Pride Marathon, the Marianas Visitors Authority has been diligently working to stimulate interest and demand from the core markets, namely, Japan, Korea, China, and Russia.
“The marathon clubs are aggressively targeted for they are the perfect groups to challenge such course. Our offshore offices in Korea and China are doing their part in trying to secure athletes from their markets. With Japan, KFC Triathlon is already collecting registration forms for the event. Overall, we are very excited and have high regard to sports tourism and its demands,” said MVA marketing manager Wayne Pangelinan.
The 1st Island Pride Marathon will be held on June 17, 2006 with the start time at 4:30am. The start and finish areas will be in front of the Saipan World Resort. There is a mandatory orientation for all participants on June 16, 2006 at 6pm at the Saipan World Resort.
