Garapan teams cruise in NYBA
Two Garapan Rollers I teams were on the winning end of matches in the ongoing NYBA cage league Monday night.
The younger crew in Division I had a blast in their bout against sister-team G-Rollers II, working their way to a 39-27 victory.
G-I had a big performance from In Chu Ha, who heated up for 13 points, while Tom Pangelinan added eight markers. Trevor Ogumoro and Rodney Salas also had six points apiece for the victors.
Jason Palacios and Joemar Danas led G-II with 10 and eight points, while Mike Bondoc pumped in seven points.
Later in the evening, Keoni Chariton and Jayvon Tarkong each scored over the 20-point mark to lead the Division II G-I to a lopsided 102-31 victory over the Matansa Sparks.
Chariton and Tarkong had the hot hands from the start, with Keoni lighting up the scoreboard for 14 points and Jayvon for 12 points in the first half to give their team a 40-16 advantage.
The Sparks had little response in the second half as the G-Rollers continued to cruise. Not satisfied with their halftime lead, the team exploded for a whopping 62 points in the second half, while holding their opponents to 15 points for the 71-point victory margin.
Chariton and Tarkong finished with 22 and 21 points, while Joe Pangie and Ricardo Basilla added 10 points apiece for the G-Rollers.
Machnoy Mobel led the Sparks with 12 points, while Mark Sablan added eight points.
