Job hunt assistance for SHEFA scholars
The Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance is informing all recipients of the SHEFA financial assistance who are graduating from college this Spring 2006 semester to immediately provide the SHEFA Office with necessary documents so that the office can help them obtain a job.
Among the documents that must be submitted include an updated resume, formal career assessment conducted by one’s school’s career guidance and counseling center, and application(s) for employment on Saipan in the private sector, government, non-profit organization or non-government.
“Indeed, it is SHEFA’s mission to facilitate the entry, retention and career mobility of SHEFA recipients into local labor market, and for our recipients to serve time by providing services equal to the length of time in receipt of SHEFA financial assistance,” said Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, together with the board of directors, in a statement.
Application forms for employment may be requested online at www.cnmi.net in the government section under the Executive Branch (departments, agencies and instrumentalities) by clicking contact us, or at www.saipanchamber.com in the jobs online menu.
Graduating seniors may also avail of SHEFA’s employment assistance links at www.saipanshefa.com and the personalized services at the SHEFA Office in Garapan, Saipan.
Seniors who aspire to immediately engage in self-employment or become a local entrepreneur may also avail of the professional human resources services coordinated through the SHEFA Office.
In submitting bio-data or resume, it is vitally important to make certain and indicate one’s career interest(s), work-related experiences, special work or human relation skills and desired work environment.
It is advisable that every opportunity is taken advantage of in availing of SHEFA’s Career Prep Voucher referenced in section 8(2) of the rules and regulations for purposes of participating in career counseling and preparation workshops, seminars, and training in order to strengthen your job search skills order to have a more definitive understanding and concept of your desired career.
“For that reason, SHEFA highly recommends that you undergo an early formal screening procedure at any career center of your choosing (e.g., NMC Career Center) to assist you in profiling viable career option – those that do not match your interest as well as you fit your field of study in college,” SHEFA said. “Those of you with little, if any, idea on your field of study, much less your career choice(s) should immediately seek the technical assistance of your career guidance counselor. SHEFA’s Career Prep Voucher is for this specific purpose. Use it.”
To those SHEFA recipients who are attending college at home, SHEFA will extend the same personalized attention in facilitating their entry in the local workforce on Saipan.
“Also, do seek the advice of staff at the Northern Marianas Career Guidance Center on Saipan,” SHEFA added.
