Parents of students living in southern Saipan are invited to a free Parent Development Workshop tomorrow, May 6, at Saipan Southern High.
The event is a continuation of a series of village workshops by the Division of Youth Services, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, aimed at making parenting skills development available at the grassroots level. The workshop will run from 7:30am to 4pm.
Presenters will include parent education facilitator Marie Coleman speaking on Common Sense Parenting classes, Joann Ogo and Paul Manglona of NMC-CREES on Health Eating Habits; DYS Child Protection Unit caseworkers Alex Olopai and Bill Limes on Child Abuse and Neglect; Cris Sablan of the Community Guidance Center on Substance Abuse, and others. An update on the Public School System will also be given.
This Saturday’s workshop is targeting parents of public, private, and home schools in southern Saipan, including Saipan Southern High and Koblerville Elementary School. Parents may register by calling Volunteer Program Coordinator Vivian Sablan at 664-2584/8657/2585.
An additional workshop will be held on May 13 at Chacha Middle School for families in those areas. Workshops will continue next school year as well. (PR)
