Division of Sports and Recreation staff Elias Rangamar yesterday informed badminton regulars that their morning schedule tomorrow, May 4, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium has been cancelled to make way for a science fair scheduled on that day.

He said the science fair will only be for a day and badminton regulars can return the following day Friday, May 5, for their daily workout.

As earlier reported, badminton and the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands have temporarily switched weekend schedules with the latter taking the Saturday, May 6, and the former the Sunday, May 7, schedule at the Oleai Sports Complex venue.

In related news, badminton players are being encouraged to adopt scoring in their games to quicken the pace of turnover on the courts’ use.

Matches between men should be a best-of-three affair and up to 15 points, while matches between women are only up to 11. Mixed doubles are up to 15 points.

Badminton players regularly play at the gym from 7:30am to 10:30am on weekdays. DSR charges $1 per day per player for the use of the facility’s lights. Regular badminton players are also in the process of setting up their organization. (PR)
