CNMI Baseball a day away from announcing roster
With less than two months remaining before the Pacific’s best fast ballers, curve ballers, and knucklers take the hill at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field for the upcoming 6th Micronesian Games, the CNMI is just a step away from announcing this year’s list of baseball all-stars.
Yesterday all of the coaches and managers of the Saipan Major League teams met at the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium to sort through the list of names that top the standings. According to the chairman of the Sports Committee Tony Rogolifoi, the team has been tentatively drawn up.
“It will be D-day. The final roster will be made up of 22 players but we will be taking two to three extra just in case. We will make the final decision on Thursday when we meet again to finalize the roster,” he said.
Rogolifoi said that there will only be 22 players on the final roster but that 25 players will be taking the field for the build up to the Games so that the reserves will be ready to step up if needed.
The baseball team is one of the medal hopeful squads that is looking to make a name for itself in the quadrennial event. The next meeting of the diamond minds gets underway tomorrow morning at 11am in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at the Oleai Sports Complex.
